[YEP-DC] Volunteer with Chavez Schools this October!!

12th Grade Thesis Practice Presentations (Q1)

As our 12th graders prepare their Thesis, we provide opportunities for them to share their research with volunteers in preparation for the Final Presentation at the end of the school year.

Help us assess their progress and provide effective feedback to their work, so our Scholars complete a well-researched Thesis:

10th Grade Forensic Science Competition

10th grade Scholars will become investigative forensic scientists at the culmination of a unit in Biology.  Scholars will access a mock crime scene and complete a forensic analysis of crime scene evidence, including: ballistics, fingerprinting, DNA analysis and toxicology reports. Through this process of investigation students will learn about DNA, cells, proteins, homeostasis, and mitosis.

Serve as a panelist to determine if Scholars accurately solved the crime:

Urban Debate League

The Chavez Debate Team competes in tournaments hosted by the DC Urban Debate League five times per year.  For each tournament, Chavez needs to recruit volunteer judges to make the competition possible.

Join us one or all Saturday's in the Debate League Series:

·  Saturday, December 14^th 9am-4pm (Location TBD)

·  Saturday, February 1^st 9am-4pm (Location TBD)
