Greetings All:

Please see the below updates, by project, in your area:

First Street Tunnel Project

DC Water,  Washington Gas and Pepco are in regular communication and coordinating the relocation and related upgrades to electric and gas utilities in the Bloomingdale area.  Utility relocation in advance of First Street Tunnel construction began on Friday, October 25th.  Pepco began first and will be working in the area from October through January 2014. Washington Gas is expected to begin its work during the first week in November, with all or most work completed by April 2014.

DC Water has hired the construction firm Skanska-Jay Dee (SKJD) to design-build the First Street Tunnel Project. The SKJD Project Manager has been involved in the utility relocation meetings and after reviewing the current schedule indicated that most of the Pepco & Washington Gas work will be done in enough time so as not to interfere with tunnel construction.  In the interim, DC Water has been active in the community with staff working with homeowners, businesses and property owners focused on the completion of pre-construction surveys. There has been a lull in First Street Tunnel Project public outreach  information since DC Water needs to allow the Contractor time to establish their schedule of activities and confirm the delivery of mitigation requirements already included in the construction contract.  Please be assured that DC Water will  convene neighborhood meetings and work with you and other stakeholders to get the word out prior to the start of the First Street Tunnel Project.

For more information on the First Street Tunnel Project, please contact Tom Lindberg at (202) 787–4738, or by email at thomas.lindberg@dcwater.com.
