Long Gone (originally titled I'm Gone, Long Gone) is a classic bluegrass song written by
banjoist Don Reno. The first release was in December of 1952 by Don Reno, Red Smiley
and the Tennessee Cutups on Syd Nathan’s King Records (Catalog #1150).
Although this song is omnipresent throughout Bluegrass, it was famously popularized by the
Lonesome River Band featuring iconic two-part vocal harmonies by Ronnie Bowman and
Dan Tyminski on the album Old Country Town, released January 1, 1994 on the Sugar Hill
label.
