Child Trends is a nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization dedicated to improving the outcomes for children by providing research, data, and analyses to the people and institutions whose decisions and actions affect children.
Overview of Internship
Interns will have the opportunity to conduct primary data collection in the DC Public School District through a leading research organization focused on children and their development. Child Trends will select ten to fifteen interns to join our data collection efforts for one year.
· Duration: One year
· Intensity: 15-20 hrs/wk for 2-3 months in the fall and 2-3 months in the spring
· Location: Child Trends' main office and Title I public schools throughout DC
· Pay: Child Trends will pay interns $15/hour

Job Specifications
Interns will work alongside Child Trends staff on a fielding team to conduct primary data collection and data entry for a program evaluation of early childhood classrooms in DC.
Interns may be expected to:
· Become reliable on a child assessment battery for children ages 3-5.
· Travel to schools around DC to conduct child assessments.
· Enter, clean, and code qualitative and quantitative data.
· Assist with clerical tasks or other duties as assigned by the project manager.
Qualifications
· Experience working with young children in an early childhood setting
· Strong organizational and communication skills, flexibility, and punctuality
· B.A. degree plus some coursework in early care and education is preferred
· Experience with primary data collection preferred
· Spanish language skills preferred
· A commitment of at least three mornings a week during fall and spring fielding months
