At 7:30 p.m. sharp, Hank Janney stood outside the WGTY radio station in Gettysburg smoking a cigarette.

Smoking calms his nerves, he said, taking a long drag. It was the normal start to his Sunday night routine, but tonight was more nerve-wracking than normal.
