Education Research and Social Media Internship Announcement

 

The Council of the Great City Schools, coalition of 67 of the nation's largest urban public school systems, is seeking a part-time Research Intern. Interns are primarily responsible for maintaining and organizing data on urban school districts and increasing the social media presence and visibility for the organization.

 

Major responsibilities include:

·         Inputting data into Microsoft Excel or SPSS (PASW)

·         Assisting with fact checking of data for the department's publications;

·         Updating Council member database;

·         Maintaining, organizing and analyzing assessment and demographic data

·         Reviewing assessment and demographic data to assure accuracy; and

·         Editing graphs and tables in Microsoft Excel;

·         Monitor and manage the organization's social media platforms

·         Create and maintain a content publishing calendar for staff

·         Edit article and video content

·         Communicate exciting social media news (internal and external)

·         Assist in distributing content to various media outlets

·         Update website, as needed

·         Track website statistics

 

Additional tasks and responsibilities will be assigned as the needs of the organization and research department evolve.

 

Ideal candidates will be undergraduate/graduate students in a social science field (e.g., education, sociology, public policy, political science, etc.), with a background and/or interest in education issues. Candidates should also have experience conducting basic statistical analyses, highly organized and detail oriented. In addition, candidates should be familiar with Twitter and Facebook, knowledgeable about social media, and technologically savvy. The best candidates will be comfortable in a small but dynamic work environment. Proficiency in Excel and other statistical programs such as SPSS required.

 

Applications that are able to commit to long-term projects are preferred.

 

This position is part time only – 20 hours per week for $12/hr.
