[YEP-DC] DCPS Literacy Consultant / Wireless Generation

Job Description:

Wireless Generation seeks dedicated and experienced educators ready to transform schools using innovative technological tools, data driven practices, collaborative planning and problem solving. Successful candidates will be part of a school literacy team who will support the staff in the use of Wireless Generation's methodology, the Common Core State Standards and other proven strategies to boost student reading achievement through a three-year program of intensive, onsite support.


Responsibilities of Literacy Consultant:

  • Coach school leadership teams and K-3 teachers in analyzing data and using data to inform instruction
  • Support data coaches and instructional coaches with implementation of the Common Core State Standards
  • Facilitate meetings of Professional Learning Communities
  • Model whole group and small group literacy instruction
  • Observe teacher practice and provide feedback to individual teachers
  • Train and support teachers in the use of state-of-the-art technology to collect and analyze student data
  • Travel to schools daily to deliver services and build strong relationships
  • Provide written status reports to project management team regularly
  • Participate in Wireless Generation's consultant certification process

Requirements of Literacy Consultant:

  • 5+ years of K-3 classroom teaching experience required, 10+ years of experience with diverse populations preferred
  • Bachelors degree required, Masters of Education degree preferred
  • Mastery level knowledge of effective instructional strategies and practices, including methods of differentiating instruction and fostering student engagement
  • Ability to model effective instruction for whole class and small groups required
  • Experience with cognitive coaching, meeting facilitation, and adult training
  • Instructional leadership experience preferred
  • Demonstrated data analysis skills
  • Must live in, be able to commute to or be willing to relocate to Washington, DC
  • Immediate start, preferable
