Fall 2012 Internship – Capital Partners for Education

 

Background: Capital Partners for Education (CPE) offers an excellent opportunity for students interested in the field of education or non-profit management to contribute to its mission of helping its low-income students receive a quality education, graduate from high school, and attend college. Capital Partners for Education (CPE) improves the futures of motivated low-income students in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area by providing them access to a college preparatory education, adult mentors, college and career programming, and the individualized support necessary to help each student gain college acceptance. Since our inception in 1993, a remarkable 99% of graduates have enrolled in college. For the past seven years, 100% of our seniors have enrolled in college immediately after graduation. Development Intern:

The Development Intern will work closely with CPE’s Deputy Director to manage, implement and expand all activities relating to fundraising, donor stewardship, marketing, communications and special events. 

 

Responsibilities include:

·         Grant and individual donor research

·         Grant writing and reporting

·         Donor recognition correspondence

·         Development and production of CPE communication materials, including the CPE newsletter and Annual Report

·         Fundraising database management (we use Salesforce)

·         Event planning

·         Managing social media accounts for the organization

·         Providing administrative support to the Deputy Director as needed. 

 

Qualifications include:

·         Interest in working at a non-profit and serving low-income youth in the DC Metropolitan Area

·         Interest in nonprofit fundraising, communications, and organizational management

·         Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and organizational skills

·         Ability to work in a small, fast-paced, team-oriented environment

·         Friendly and personable demeanor

·         Strong command of Microsoft Office applications

·         Graduate level is a plus!

 

General information:

  • Internship schedules are flexible, but 12 -15 hours/week and at least 3 days per week minimum are required.
