These are words that we live at DC Sail.

DC Sail is a non-profit community sailing center located in Southwest, DC.  Our mission is to promote and sustain affordable educational, recreational and competitive sailing programs for all ages in a fun and safe environment. DC Sail empowers its participants to develop self-respect and sportsmanship, foster teamwork, and cultivate sailing skills and an appreciation for maritime-related activities. In addition, DC Sail enhances the DC community by using sailing to bolster community spirit and volunteerism.

Have you heard about DC Sail and what it offers youth?

Do you know and kids that want to experience something one of a kind right here on the waterways of Washington, DC?

Then DC Sail has programs for you!

Help us spread the word about our one of a kind programs offered right here, in Washington, DC!

Kids Set Sail is for both beginner and experienced youth sailors camp for 7-14 year old children over the course of 8 one-week sessions throughout the summer.   These young sailors be immersed in sailing all week, learning how to sail a small craft, a Flying Scot.  Sailors will learn knot tying, person overboard skills, upwind/downwind sailing, parts of the boat, and parts of sail.

This camp is perfect for youth that have an interest in sailing careers, engineering, marine biology or boating!

Schooner Camp is DC Sail's premier STEM summer program.  Students climb aboard Washington DC's only tall Ship, American Spirit, for 8 one-week sessions.  Students/Youth aged 12-16 become the crew of the 65-foot schooner, learning all of the basics of sailing a tall ship, in addition to s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) curriculum that reinforces concepts taught during the school year.  Schooner Camp allows them to practice what they have learned through identification of local flora and fauna, dissecting fish, tracking and predicting water and weather conditions.  By the end of each session the "Crew" of American Spirit will have put into practice their STEM knowledge along with acquiring the needed teamwork and communication skills needed to crew this vessel.

Schooner Camp is an awesome experience for anyone who has in interest in Math, Biology, maritime careers, history, geography, engineering and Science!
