ABOUT PAUL PCS: Paul PCS welcomes diverse students from across the District of Columbia who seek a program offering academic rigor in a character-building culture. Paul was awarded its charter status in 2000, becoming the first conversion public charter school in Washington, DC (and only DCPS to charter conversion). Named after a pioneering DC educator, Edward Paul, and operating as a DC Public School since 1930, Paul has a strong tradition of academic excellence and community involvement. As the founder of Paul PCS, Cecile R. Middleton spent two years steadily challenging the status quo, and gained nation-wide respect as a pioneer in the charter movement. As a trailblazer in education for decades in the city, Ms. Middleton spent her final chapter at Paul and ensured that Paul scholars were given an opportunity to excel beyond meager expectations. The philosophy of Paul PCS embodies the belief that all children can learn and benefit from our “Triple A Program,” offering high-quality Academics, Arts, and Athletics delivered within the context of a nurturing and structured school environment. The middle and high school years are among the most crucial in a child’s development, because it is then that the student generally chooses the directions, both academically and socially, that will influence the balance of his or her life. In the 2013-2014 academic year, Paul expanded to serve 6-10 and eventually serving 6-12, graduating our first class in 2016.
Best,
"Never take someone for granted. Hold every person close to your heart
because you might wake up one day and realize that you've lost a diamond,
while you were too busy collecting stones..."
"The Ability to accept delay or disappointment. To smile at setbacks and
respond with a pleasant, understanding spirit. To remain calm while others
around are uneasy. This is Godly patience. Never think that God's Delays
are God's Denials. Hold on; Hold fast; Hold out. Patience is genius."
