Position Overview: Academy of Hope – one of DC's top adult education providers - seeks a dynamic, results-oriented Development Director with proven professional experience in funds development. This summer, Academy of Hope will grow to become an adult education public charter school, offering expanded services to district residents. The Development Director is responsible for the overall development strategy and the day-to-day operations of the development program including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual, corporate, foundation and government funders. This position is responsible for all aspects of fundraising and grants solicitation for Academy of Hope, totaling approximately $1 million. The Development Director will be supervised by the Development & Community Engagement Officer, and supervises a Development Assistant and a Volunteer Coordinator. This position works in close collaboration with communications and advocacy team, and liaises regularly with key board members and volunteers.
-- QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree required, preferably within the public relations, communications or marketing discipline
5 years (minimum) professional experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources)
Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time
A professional and resourceful style; the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative, and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time
High energy and passion for Academy of Hope's mission is essential
Knowledge of Donor Perfect or similar database system
Experience running capital campaigns is a plus
