About Us

Edu-Futuro is a non-profit organization that empowers underserved Latino and

immigrant families through education: the Escuela Bolivia Program which offers

Spanish and English classes to children and adults; the Emerging Leaders Program

(ELP) which is a youth leadership and college preparation program; and the

Parent Leadership Initiative which conducts Latino parent leadership training.

 

Position Summary

Edu-Futuro is looking for volunteer teacher assistants for a summer camp in

Arlington: Spanish Academy. The Spanish Academy is an interactive summer

immersion camp held at St. George's Church found next to the Virginia Square/GMU

metro (915 N. Oakland Street Arlington, VA 22203). The two-week program provides

cultural and academic enrichment, as well as Spanish language skills to rising

Kindergarten through rising 5th graders. The position reports to the Lead

Spanish Teacher.

Essential Responsibilities

·         Support the Spanish teachers in teaching and taking care of children

·         Assist children in classroom activities and projects

·         Accompany children to restroom, and watch over them during activities and

·         recess breaks

·         Facilitate communication with students, parents, and teachers

·         Participate in student registration process on first and second day of class

·         Responsible for parent evaluation of program

 

Qualifications

Experience working with children

Spanish language skills, both written and spoken

Experience working with linguistically and culturally diverse populations

Available to work:

· Spanish Academy: Monday through Friday, August 12-23, 2012, from

9:00am-4:00pm.

Interested individuals will undergo a background check.
