The Alliance for Excellent Education is a Washington, DC-based national policy and advocacy organization that works to improve national and federal education policy so that all students can achieve at high academic levels and graduate from high school ready for success in college, work, and citizenship in the twenty-first century.
Job Qualifications
Open to an undergraduate or graduate student interested in education advocacy, marketing, and public relations. Successful candidate will have experience with planning and implementation of grassroots marketing and public relation strategies. Interest in the promotion of innovative promising practices and support for the teaching profession is a must. Candidate must have excellent oral communication, analytical, and writing skills; creativity; and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with the education field, particularly digital learning is a plus.
Job Description
The intern will work closely with the Alliance for Excellent Education's digital learning team to successfully implement all activities of the Alliance's Center for Digital Learning and Policy (the Center), up to and through Digital Learning Day on February 5, 2014. Digital Learning Day is a nationwide celebration of innovative teachers and common-sense, effective applications of digital learning in America's schools that support teachers, improve learning, and provide options for students to achieve at their highest potential. Duties include the following:
- Support digital learning team with all aspects of Digital Learning Day
- Assist with the Center's existing and enhanced marketing and public relations
- Provide input for the Center's newsletter development and tips of the day
- Solicit educators to participate in Digital Learning Day events
- Support the digital learning team in implementing Digital Learning Day on February 5, 2014
- Communicate with Digital Learning Day participants via email, social media, and phone
- Analyze existing participant lists to provide statistics to the digital learning team
- Assist in the development of case studies of promising practices in education for digital learning
- Assist in the preparation of Alliance publications and events
- Provide any other support as necessary
This position is paid. The term for this internship is fall 2013 through the spring 2014 semester.
