Scholarship Opportunities for Academic Achievers

The LULAC National Educational Service Centers (LNESC) is pleased to open its application process to academic achievers seeking scholarships.


General Electric Foundation/LULAC Scholarship Program

Deadline: August 15, 2013

Must be a minority student pursuing full-time studies leading to a bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university in the U.S.The GE Foundation/LULAC Scholarship Program is intended to assist and encourage minority students with exemplary academic records to complete their college education. The scholarship application is available online at www.LNESC.org

The GE/LULAC Scholarship Program will award four scholarships in the amount of $5,000 to qualified minorities.

The $5,000 award money will be divided into two disbursements of $2,500. The disbursements will take place on September 15 and January 31. Scholarship awards will be sent directly to the recipient's college or university and deposited in the recipient's name. The funds will be allocated toward the payment of tuition, academic fees, and the purchase of required educational materials and books.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for a scholarship:

  • Must be CLASSIFIED AS A COLLEGE SOPHOMORE in the fall 2013.
  • Must have a cumulative college grade point average of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent.
  • Must have selected business or engineering as their major.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident.

Scholarship Dates and Deadlines:

August 15th - Student applications due to the LNESC National Office

September 6th - Scholarship recipients notified of award

September 15th - Fall check disbursement

January 31st - Spring check disbursement


Denny's Hungry for Education (HFE) Scholarship Program

Deadline: September 15, 2013

Administered by the LULAC National Educational Service Centers (LNESC), the Denny's Hungry for Education (HFE) scholarship program is designed to recognize high school and college students who are trying to help fight childhood hunger in their communities.

The application is available online by clicking here.

LNESC will award a one-time $1,000 scholarship to three incoming freshmen and five college sophomores, juniors, and seniors. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for a scholarship:

  • Applicants must be residents of AZ, CA, CO, DC, GA, IL, NM, NV, NY, SC, or TX.
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents.

Grades and academic performance will serve as indicators of potential; however, an emphasis may be placed on the individuals essay submission.

Scholarship Dates & Deadlines:

September 15th - Student applications due to the LNESC National Office

December 2013 - Scholarship recipients will be notified of award
