Re: [dcab-l] House concerts and venues

Like Sully, I am also surprised at how few musicians attend our house
concerts. As connections-driven as the music business is, one might
expect that the chance to study and visit with great players who you may
not already know well would be a great opportunity, but it's one that
few local musicians seem to take advantage of.

There's also something different happening in the club scene that I
don't fully understand. Out here, around Annapolis, the local paper is
full of local clubs hosting music pretty much every day of the week.
Almost none of it is bluegrass. So, while the advent of stricter drunk
driving laws has clearly had some impact, the clubs are still operating
and many are still hosting music.

So, while we're seeing more and more young people at festivals (well,
ours, anyway), at the WOB convention each year and, certainly, in new
and upcoming bands, why is that not being reflected in the availability
of live bluegrass music in the mix of what clubs are presenting?
