They were "leprechauns", not elves. There were two of them, three at
times. The elder one was one of the munchkins in "The Wizard of Oz" (I
am not making this up). They played as Randy describes and also
wandered around the restaurant making balloon animals for the kids.
But they were also bad-tempered and rude, which made for some, well...,
interesting events. Ask Chris Jones about them :-)
Also, the Pizza Pub was the gig from hell - the band played 9pm-2am to a
mostly empty room. The purpose of the restaurant was to appear to be
open so that the meat market bar on the other side of the building could
stay open until 3am and the best way to demonstrate that the restaurant
was open, even without customers, was to have a band playing.
Also, the configuration of the dining room where the band played was
such that half of the audience in the booths had their backs to the
band. The place burned down a number of years ago and the owner was
charged with arson.
And don't even get me started on the matzoh crust on the square pizzas...
