You were close, Howard - it's Mark Gretschel. He later started Half Moon BBQ in Silver Spring, which occasionally had local BG bands perform.

I rather surprised that no one has pointed out that WAMU's programming
was (imho) the lynch pin to regional activity. Drive time bluegrass and
"Bluegrass Overnight" on Sat/Sun. Some of those on air "jocks" are with
us here on this list. ;-)

I'd sit and listen for the "Bluegrass Bulletin Board", compiled by the
lovely Pixie Christie before finalizing my weekend plans.

I personally learned a lot when "Too Far Gone" played as the "house
band" every Thursday night at Tornado Alley (Mark Gresham, Twist and
Shout) in Wheaton. Any of you folks play there?
