[dcab-l] Banjoist Jack Sanbower's "God Bless America"

Bluegrassers:

For the 4th of July, 2013, I am sending you Jack Sanbower’s

arrangement of  "God Bless America",  which was written by

Irving Berlin in 1918 and revised by him in 1938. (The later

version became Kate Smith’s signature song.)

This cut was recorded at Gantt Kushner’s sound studio “Gizmo

Recording” in Four Corners area of Silver Spring, in 2006, and

was included in the Rattlesnake Hill CD:  “Ride Out the Storm”.

Musicians:

  Jack Sanbower            Banjo

  Carolyn Kellock           Bass

  Heather Twigg            Fiddle

  Frank Solivan II           Mandolin

  Ed Schaeffer                Guitar

When Jack played with Rattlesnake Hill, we did this instrumental at every

performance, and dedicated this song to everyone in the audience who

served in any branch of the armed forces. (The vets in the band included

J.B. Hittle and me; Frank, of course, is a vet also, and I am proud to

share that distinction with those two).

I hope you enjoy it!
