Richard Wright Public Charter School for Journalism and Media Arts is a unique high school offering students, from 8th to 12th grade, an opportunity to explore high school while focusing on their areas of interest within journalism and media arts. Our educational focus is to create great writers, journalists and productive citizens. Richard Wright PCS is currently seeking dedicated and motivated professionals for the 2014-2015 school year in the following positions:
· Teacher, all subjects, grades seven-twelve
· Teacher, Special Education
· Social Worker
· Dean
In order to be considered for the positions listed above, an applicant must meet the following qualifications:
· For teacher applicants, a bachelor's degree in secondary education and/or the subject the applicant is interested in teaching
· For teacher applicants, the ability to prove that he or she is a Highly Qualified Teacher, which for DC charter schools, means either a valid DC Teaching License, proof of having taken the Praxis in the subject he or she will be teaching, or at least a bachelor's degree with the major of the subject he or she wishes to teach
· For social worker applicants, proof of being currently certified to be a social worker in the District of Columbia
· For all applicants, two years or more working with students of this age group
· For all applicants, experience working with diverse populations in an urban setting
· For all applicants, proven ability to work as a member of a team
· For all applicants, strong leadership capabilities
· For all applicants, demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development
