A book, titled Dream City: Race, Power, and the Decline of Washington, D.C., has turned out to be a powerful tool for engaging teens in the controversial past of the nation's capital. Teachers and students who have read the book came out for a discussion this month with the authors, where they shared their own connections to the District's history. Recess blogger Francesca Duffy was there, and she has the highlights in her latest blog post, "Historical Book About DC Hits Home for the City's Students," here: http://www.youngedprofessionals.org/yep-dc-recess-blog/historical-book-about-dc-hits-home-for-the-citys-students
