Urban Teacher Center (UTC) is seeking multiple candidates to oversee high-stakes testing of the students of UTC teachers in public schools across DC. The Test Monitors will work closely with the Data and Assessment Coordinator to assist in the delivery and oversight of the end-of-year post-test assessment process. This position will play an instrumental role in ensuring reliable test results, which guide the accountability model for the teachers in the UTC program.

We accomplish this by recruiting outstanding candidates, equipping them with state of the art training, and linking their certification to their students' performance outcomes. Founded in 2009, Urban Teacher Center is a new organization on the cutting edge of urban school reform by virtue of its link between teacher effectiveness and certification eligibility. UTC has offices in Baltimore and in Washington, DC. Additional regions will join UTC in the next year.

Role and Responsibilities:
The team of Test Monitors will be responsible for carrying out the Urban Teacher Center's post-test cycle in May 2014. Each Test Monitor will be assigned to one or more schools and will be responsible for the following:
Testing Preparation
Participate in a mandatory training to learn about UTC's accountability model, the procedures of our high-stakes testing, and the operation of the online assessment we use
Work closely with Data and Assessment Coordinator to ensure that all schools have assigned times and test monitors
School-based implementation
Communicate with teachers and school staff to allow for a smooth and orderly test administration
Set up and troubleshoot testing technology
Be visible and available to the teachers and administration at each assigned school during the testing window
Complete daily documentation about each assigned testing site
Serve as proctors for the NWEA MAP assessments
Oversee the testing process within assigned schools to ensure reliability of test results
All of the duties described occur in a continuous improvement environment, with constant analysis of what is working, what is not, and how to improve our efforts.

Preferred Skill Set:
We are seeking highly driven individuals who can thrive in a fast-paced environment. Successful candidates will have a deep belief in UTC's mission and also have the following skills and qualifications:
Previous teaching or school-based experience, preferably in an urban setting
Familiarity with and experience administering or proctoring high-stakes assessments
Proficiency and comfort with using technology
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Evidence of sound judgment and ability to problem solve
Attention to detail
This is a part-time, temporary position. Access to a car and a flexible schedule will be necessary for the requirements of this position. Testing will occur for approximately three weeks in May, with a required training for Test Monitors in mid-late April.
