here are two extraordinary leadership opportunities with Turnaround for Children, Inc. (Turnaround)!
Turnaround for Children, Inc. (Turnaround) works to transform low-performing, high-poverty public schools and bring about dramatically improved academic and life outcomes for their students. Through work in over 60 schools since 2002, Turnaroundhas developed a model to equip schools to address the recurring and predictable barriers to learning and healthy youth development that arise from the circumstances of poverty. Turnaround partners with schools and districts to build capacity and staff proficiency in schools serving high-poverty communities, in order to optimize performance and drive improvement in student behavior and academics. Currently, Turnaround is working in partnership with 20 high-poverty, persistently low-achieving public schools in New York City and Washington DC.
We are looking to hire an Instructional Coach - http://turnaroundusa.org/wp-
. The Instructional Coach will work with teachers and principals in our partner schools in developing proficiency in a set of high leverage instructional and classroom management skills. The coach will also work to prepare school leaders to support and sustain these skills through focused observations, descriptive feedback and different forms of assessment and evaluation.
We are also seeking to fill the position of Program Director - http://turnaroundusa.org/wp-
. Our Program Directors are typically seasoned educators that have building and/or district leadership experience and have successfully led a change or transformation process in that capacity (credibility when supporting school leaders and collaborating with district personnel). The right candidate is a very strong communicator, and a systems thinker that believes in the principles underlying our work (that the challenges schools face are predictable and not intractable - that a whole-school intervention therefore is possible). The role also requires very strong management skills as the program director is responsible for execution against multiple work plans and will lead a small team of Instructional Coaches and Social Work Consultants. Our most effective program directors are largely undaunted by the resistance they will face when trying to implement change, and are highly persuasive as a consultant (facilitating change) without direct authority or supervisory power.
