[YEP-DC] Apply to join the First Book-DC Advisory Board

What is your favorite children's book? Can you imagine your life without having a love for that book or any other book? For many children in our Nation's Capitol, that is a reality.

First Book-DC is a Non-Profit Advisory Board that works to fundraise to hold annual book grant cycles that provide books to some of Washington DC's most deserving children.

Currently, we are recruiting new members to our advisory board for the following positions: Outreach Co-Chair, Recipient Group Liaison, and Secretary.

Outside of board members duties to fundraise and raise awareness of the advisory board, interested applicants can find details about the open positions below:  

Duties of the General Board Member

• Participate in monthly advisory board meetings

• Support fundraising, outreach or applications co-chairs in special projects

• Lead or support event planning initiatives as planned by the board

• Estimated Volunteer Time Per Month: 5-10 hours

Duties of the Outreach Co-Chair

• Educates, promotes and publicizes the public about First Book-DC

• Writes and sends out press releases

• Maintains/updates the Facebook and Twitter pages.  

• Compiles testimonials from recipient groups, and compiling photos from events and site visits.

• Creates content for First Book-DC's newsletter

• The role of Recipient Group Liaison requires approximately 5-10 hours per month.

Duties of the Recipient Group Liaison

• Maintains close contact with the approved Recipient Groups to be sure all goes
  well in terms of book ordering and distribution.  

• Schedules and coordinates site visits to schools, taking photos of book
  distributions, and collecting testimonials and quotes from site visits.  

• Flexible during the day to attend school site visits preferred.  

• The role of Recipient Group Liaison requires approximately 5-10 hours per month.
