About Mundo Verde Bilingual Public Charter School: Mundo Verde Bilingual Public Charter School is an Expeditionary Learning School and the District of Columbia's first school dedicated to education for sustainability and biliteracy. Mundo Verde is a purposefully diverse and culturally inclusive school founded to empower students to reach their full potential and give them the skills they need to work together to solve sustainability challenges. Mundo Verde's mission is to foster high levels of academic achievement among a diverse group of students by preparing them to be successful and compassionate stewards of their communities. Mundo Verde, which opened its doors in August 2011, currently offers preschool through second grade (adding third grade in 2014) and will add one additional grade each year through fifth grade.
