The Kiwanis Club of Washington, DC, created the Joe Riley Youth Leadership Awards to recognize outstanding leadership and achievements of students in the District of Columbia. The club, founded in 1917, is part of a global volunteer organization dedicated to serving the children of the world.
Any graduating senior high school student who both resides in and attends school in the District of Columbia is eligible to apply. Applications will be judged on leadership qualities as demonstrated by your contribution to your school and community, financial need and academic achievement. Finalists will be interviewed by a panel of business and community leaders to determine the scholarship winners.
More than $33,000 in cash scholarships will be awarded including a top award of $15,000. Students selected as finalists will receive a new laptop computer that will be distributed at the awards presentation. The application deadline is Friday, January 24, 2014. Application materials are available on our website, www.kiwanisdc.org
