[YEP-DC] SOAR ACT Grant Review Opportunity: Office of the State Superintendent of Eduaction (OSSE)-Extension

DEADLINE TO PARTICIPATE EXTENDED! Please read below and respond by COB January 27 to participate.

 

The Office of Public Charter School Financing and Support (OPCSFS), within the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), is soliciting experienced education practitioners or  education-related graduate students to review Scholarships for Opportunity and Results (SOAR) Act applications. These individuals should possess at least Bachelor's degree, with two-five years of experience within the public charter school sector, previous grant review experience and no direct or indirect affiliation with an organization that has currently applied for a charter from the DC Public Charter School Board or submitted an application for either of the grants in the FY'13 SOAR Act  Competition (list available upon request).

 

The purpose of the funding is to address two impact areas:

  • Innovative funding to improve school performance and educational outcomes; and
  • Effective facility financing and funding to increase the number of quality public charter school seats.

 

Important Highlights:

  • Stipends of $100/application for practitioners and $50/application for graduate students
  • Training  webinars will take place the week of January 27th
  • Review, scoring, and consensus meetings February 3-14 (first reviews must be submitted by February 10th with availability for consensus meetings the week of the 10th, if necessary)
  • Reviewers will be broken up into teams with an OSSE staff person as lead

 

Additional Considerations:

Special consideration will be given to reviewers that have knowledge, skills and/or expertise in Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education, Finance, Rehabilitation and School Expansion, Construction Project Evaluation, Charter School Start-up and Implementation and/or experience working in the  Public Charter School administration.
