[dcab-l] American Legion Bluegrass-IIIrd Tyme Out

It's already time for another go round of Bluegrass Music at the American Legion Post 238 in Hughesville, MD.  Sunday February 9, 2014 will feature Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out along with local singer songwriter David Norris.

Back by popular demand, The International Bluegrass Music Association's most awarded Male Vocalist of the Year, Russell Moore, is truly at the top of his game, fronting one of the most popular bands in bluegrass history.  Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out are celebrating nearly 25 years as one of Bluegrass music's most awarded and influential groups in modern day bluegrass.  All in all, the band has garnered over 50 industry accolades since their inception in 1991 including being named the IBMA's Vocal Group of the Year for seven consecutive years. Their a cappella renditions of many songs can rarely be matched and their superb instrumentation provides even more quality sound to their rich vocal blend featuring one of the most respected lead vocalists of all time.   All this along with a heavy touring schedule, including many performances on the Grand Ole Opry as well as GAC and RFD channel programs, over 17 recordings to date, and a desire to present their fans with the best music possible, makes this "super-group" one of bluegrass music's most recognized and in-demand bands. The ensemble celebrated tremendous success with the release of their latest CD, "Timeless Hits from the Past Bluegrassed", sold exclusively through Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and it has ranked #5 on Billboard's Top Selling Bluegrass Albums of 2013. Add it all up, and the future is looking very bright for Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out. Indeed, if one measure of success is the degree to which younger and newer musicians look to a group for inspiration, then Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out are about as successful as a bluegrass group can be, for a whole generation of young pickers and singers can be heard across the country trying their hand at IIIrd Tyme Out classics.

With them they will be introducing 2 new band members at the American Legion on February 9.  With the addition of Keith McKinnon on vocals and banjo along with Blake Johnson on vocals and bass, comments are already being said that the new members sing exceptionally well with Russell, and with them they bring some new energy on stage. For many years now, IIIrd Tyme Out has been one the most enjoyable - and most awarded groups in Bluegrass Music.  The music is in some mighty fine hands with Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out.

Opening the show will be David Norris who is a local Southern Maryland songwriter who has written several songs for Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out as well as many other artists.  Troy Jones will offer up the sound for the stage.

The doors open at Noon and the show starts at 2:00 pm.  Tickets are STILL ONLY $15.00 per person and can be purchased at the door or in advanced by sending a check or money order to Jay Armsworthy, P.O. Box 741, California, MD.  They will be held at the door.  A dinner special of Fried Chicken will be available for sale prior to the show.  The American Legion is located on the corner of Maryland Rt. 381 and 231 in Hughesville, MD.  For more information, visit www.americanlegionbluegrass.com or call 301-737-3004.
