[YEP-DC] Volunteer and Internship Opportunities with Reading Partners- Become a literacy tutor and mentor!

Be a Hero!  Become a tutor today by volunteering with Reading Partners!

Can you share one hour each week with a student who is struggling to read?  Become a Reading Partner for the 2013-2014 school year!

Reading Partners is a nonprofit organization that recruits and trains community volunteers to provide one-on-one literacy tutoring to students who are struggling with reading. Tutors use a research-based curriculum, and program staff regularly assess students to benchmark and monitor student progress.

Devoting just one hour each week to a student can make a tremendous impact. Last year, 99% of Reading Partners' DC students improved their rate of learning in reading, and 90% narrowed their achievement gap. This year, Reading Partners is partnering with 11 local district and charter elementary schools and is opening opportunities for 600 students living in economically disadvantaged communities.

To sign up to be a Reading Partner, please fill out the form found here.  If you have any questions, please call (202) 701-9110 or email volunteerDC@readingpartners.org.

*Internship opportunities also available. Contact Naomi Shachter at naomi.shachter@readingpartners.org or at (443) 794-2225 to learn more about applying.
