Quad Learning, Inc., a startup based in Washington, DC, is seeking a Communications Associate to creatively capture the tone of the American Honors program in a range of written materials to support our mission and growth.
Quad Learning Inc. collaborates with community colleges to create the American Honors program. American Honors is a new, selective honors program for students who want to transfer to earn a bachelor's degree.
About the Position:
We're students first. Therefore, outreach to potential, admitted, and enrolled students is at the heart of our work. The Communications Associate will be responsible for creating content for American Honors's email campaigns, website, blog, mailings and other communication materials, while maintaining a consistent tone and voice across these media. Dreaming big is fundamental to American Honors's approach, and your writing will capture that spirit. To be successful, you will need to collaborate with many people in the organization, both junior and senior, to ensure that materials align with the brand and image of American Honors.
Responsibilities:
One of the first big projects you will be working on is copy for a new website for American Honors. We're ready for a website that showcases American Honors students and faculty, telling the story of the program through the students and their successes.
Other responsibilities will include writing content for the company websites and blog, composing compelling event invitations, developing materials for marketing to potential students, and other critical deliverables. We know that the right person for this job will find endless opportunities to develop and refine creative content that pushes the company forward.
Candidate Profile Prerequisites:
- Is passionate about creating the best value in higher education, and willing to work hard to help achieve it
- Imbues writing with a youthful and excited tone, and has a knack for capturing our look and feel in written materials that resonate with students
- Understands how to distinguish between different audiences: students, faculty, investors, etc. and is able to seamlessly maneuver between types of language
- Is a self-starter who thrives on limited direction
- Loves to write, edit and proofread (and drink coffee/tea)
- Enjoys collaborating with others to understand and bring voice to differing points of view
- Works well when facing a deadline and demonstrates planning and time management skills
- While "Done is better than perfect," can spot a comma splice or a misplaced modifier at a glance
Compensation:
- Our Communications Associate position will be hired on a full-time, 2-month contract basis—with potential for longer-term hire based on performance and demand.
- Quad Learning, Inc. has a competitive compensation package. If interested in applying to join the QL team, please see below for details.
How to Apply:
Think you've got what it takes? Send your résumé and three writing samples tojobs@americanhonors.com. Please use the subject line "Communications Associate". We'd also like to encourage you to find at least one error on our website and tell us about it!
