[YEP-DC] Guest blogger at YEP-DC's Recess talks about PD in the classroom

Every year, more than $1.7 billion in federal money is spent on professional development (and class-size reduction). Yet a slim minority of teachers surveyed in a recent TNTP report say they benefit from the professional development in their schools. Instead, many say they learn through trial and error in the classroom. How could professional development be more productive? For starters, policymakers and administrators should listen to teachers when they point to more effective activities like teacher coaching, writes Kaitlin Pennington in a guest blog at Recess this week.

We're looking for more guest bloggers like Kaitlin! Want to share your opinion on a trending topic like teacher quality, online learning, or the Common Core? Or maybe you've read an interesting report or new research that other YEP-DC'ers should know about? Pitch your idea or blog to yepdc(dot)communicatons(at)gmail(dot)com.
