Hello all, the Global Campaign for Education-US Chapter (www.gce-us.org), an organization based in D.C. that advocates for an education for all children around the world is holding its Fall 2013 Youth Advocacy Training November 1-5, 2013. The training will begin with dinner on Friday, November 1 (traveling to D.C. during the day). Programming will take place on Saturday, November 2 and Sunday, November 3, 2013. Trainees will visit their Members of Congress on Monday, November 4, 2013 and depart on Tuesday, November 5, 2013. GCE-US will cover travel (to and from D.C.), meals and lodging during the weekend.

During the training, participants work with and learn from organizations that work in the field of international development about how to advocate for equal access to a quality education worldwide. In addition to an in-depth look at international education issues, policies, and actors, advocates participate in skills training in: grassroots and grasstops organizing, event planning, fundraising, media training, storytelling, and more.

To be considered for the training, you must be 18-25 (at the time of the training), reside permanently in the U.S., able to attend the entire training (arriving to D.C. for dinner on November 1, 2013 and leaving the morning of November 5, 2013), complete the application and submit a letter of recommendation from a person who can speak to your involvement on your campus or community. This is a competitive scholarship opportunity and submission of a completed application does not ensure participation.
