Project Manager, Literacy & Learning
City: Washington
State/Province: District of Columbia

PCG seeks a leader with experience managing initiatives in an urban education setting. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates who are passionate about improving students' lives through high quality education. This initiative focuses on strengthening literacy instruction in five elementary schools using literacy coaching and technology. The project manager leads the initiative, working closely with our partners to ensure a smooth implementation. Our ideal candidate:
- has extraordinary people skills;
- builds strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and partners;
- is charismatic and understands how to engage team members to achieve greatness;
- believes in the initiative and spreads the word;
- thrives in a complex urban education environment; and
- has at least a Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred.
Our DC-based project manager will be part of PCG's growing team of education consultants with expertise in K-12 literacy, Common Core State Standards, data use, and educational leadership. Our team serves state, district, and non-profit clients throughout the US, focusing on school improvement that significantly impacts student learning and achievement in preparation for college and career readiness. We use a research-based framework for strategic instruction and guide educators as they work with standards, assessments, curricula, and differentiation strategies. We also work with educational leaders coaching them as they use data wisely to make decisions; to intentionally lead sustainable instructional initiatives; to overcome resistance; and to allocate resources and build capacity across schools and districts.
Specific Responsibilities
Our project manager for literacy & learning will lead a team of partners, including our client, in the successful implementation of a literacy initiative in five elementary schools in the District of Columbia. The initiative is in its second year of implementation, so it is essential that our project manager has the confidence and skills to quickly learn the project, know the players, and be ready for the coming school year. Specific responsibilities include the following:
- Manage annual implementation schedule for four partners and five schools, including professional development events and site visits
- Plan and facilitate monthly stakeholder events that bring together partners, teachers, principals, and district staff
- Facilitate strategic planning meetings and status meetings with partners and our client
- Regularly visit schools and establish relationships with literacy consultants (site-based coaches), principals, and teachers (expect local travel 2-3 days per week)
- Together with our client, conduct learning walks in all five elementary schools to understand what's working, what's not, and how the initiative is impacting classroom instruction
- Increase brand awareness for the initiative among teachers in all five elementary schools
- Prepare reports and maintain project documentation as needed
