Hello All,

The fourth in the series of six "Reunion of the Bluegrass Bands Concerts Series" will feature LINE DRIVE at the Milking Parlour Concerts located at Rob's Barn, located at 1037 Pinch Valley Road, Westminster, MD 21158 (but for GPS directions you will want to use the address of 805 View West Drive, Westminster, MD 21158 – the venue is located up the hill a little and on your right after you enter View West Drive) on Sat., August 24, 2013.  There is a requested donation of $10.00/person at the door (with more requested if possible as to help cover additional 2013 concert expenses incurred).  The show time will be from 8:00 PM – 10:30 PM with a half hour intermission.  There's a possibility that there may be some before-show jamming outside the barn earlier if you want to come earlier and bring your axe.  Rob's Barn is a smoke free environment.  Seating is available, but you may also bring your own favorite chair if you wish.  No food or beverages will be sold on the premises, but if you would like to participate in a pot-luck supper please do bring a dish to share with your fellow patrons and the band members.  Outlets will be available at provided food tables for those who would like to bring hot dishes.  You may bring water, soda, beer or wine (FYI: for the beer & wine, it is requested that restraint be observed in respect of others if/when applicable).  Liquor is however prohibited and is not allowed on the premises.  For any further required info, questions, you may contact Rob Miller at 410-857-7473 (FYI: there is no answering machine) or email to robtowmiller@gmail.com.

The band, LINE DRIVE, was a very lively, very energetic ensemble of musicians that unfortunately did only grace the halls of The Friendly Inn on rare occasions; but those rare occasions were always oh, so special.  Every time LINE DRIVE would perform there, the place would pack-out, as people would sit and watch in wanting amazement and awe and hear the replications that were performed there of bands and songs from yester-year; all seemingly being created with such an uncanny accuracy and feel; so much so that one would actually believe they'd been transported back in time and were hearing the original bands and the original songs.  The actual name of the band was originally derived by the man that is deemed to head up this compilation of talented musicians … banjoist extraordinaire, Mike Munford. Mike (whom will also be featured on vocals) is considered to be one of the best hidden talents of the 5-string banjo. Growing up in a hotbed of bluegrass in the Baltimore and D.C area around the sixties & seventies, he assimilated just about everything that all the great players could offer. He has imbibed everything that J.D. Crowe, or Earl Scruggs, or Bela Fleck, had ever thrown his way, mimicking them with uncanny accuracy, yet still adding in his own unique style. Mike can best be described as a hard-driving melodic.  When he plays, all you hear is the things that great banjo players strive to achieve … power, drive, timing, tone and jaw-dropping technique & accuracy.  Throughout most of his career, Mike preferred the comforts of playing around close to his area rather than the road … but as of late, a lot of eye brows have been arching and ears have been perking up to hear this new 'old soul' plethora of talent.  And as a matter of fact, congratulations are in order to Mike for currently being named to the 2013 IBMA Ballot for Banjo Player of the Year award!  Next, Darren Beachley, previously of Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver and Legends of the Potomac fame, will be featured on guitar & vocals.  Darren is a gifted musician with one of the clearest, most pure high lead and tenor voices you will hear in bluegrass music today. Many people do not hesitate to put him in the same category as Bobby Osborne, Paul Williams & Russell Moore.  Warren Blair, being featured on fiddle & vocals, had previously served with distinction in the bands of bluegrass legends, such as Charlie Moore and Bill Harrell, as well as the Bluegrass Cardinals, the Del McCoury Band and Jimmy Gaudreau's Bluegrass Unit.  David Propst, being featured on mandolin & vocals, has previously impressing East Coast audiences for years with his deft contributions alongside multiple higher profiled bluegrass bands such as Paul Adkins & the Borderline Band, Norman Wright, Kevin Church & The Travelers, Darren Beachley & the Maryland Line and does now currently tour with Bill Yates & the Country Gentlemen Tribute Band.  Lastly, Steve Streett, being featured on the acoustic bass & vocals, has performed in multiple popular area bands that include the likes of Dee Gunter, John O'Dell, Chris Warner, Warren Blair.  He and has also recently been helping out the likes of Bill Yates & the Country Gentlemen Tribute Band on some of their tour dates.

So please, be invited to come on out to see the fourth of six "Reunion of the Bluegrass Bands Concert Series", featuring the astounding LINE DRIVE.  Come on out and witness firsthand why this band was always considered a band not to miss at The Friendly Inn; and it would suggested you come on out now, especially with some of the members performance schedules getting busier and busier, so it will be harder and harder to try and put together an extraordinary reunion show such as this in the future … maybe even ever again.  So please, DO NOT miss a rare opportunity to witness this special show, live and in person, at the Milking Parlour Concerts presented at Rob's Barn … a comfy, worthy extension of the now defunct Friendly Inn.  Also, come on out to not only enjoy the wonderful music, but to commune with your fellow bluegrass enthusiast and maybe even get involved in a before-show jam session or two. Hope to see y'all there …. and believe me when I tell you that you WILL NOT want to miss this one!!!  Thank you.
