ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Human Resources (HR) Associate will be responsible for assisting and supporting the Human Resources Department in a variety of manners. The Associate's main responsibilities will focus on benefit enrollment, maintaining KIPP DC's Human Resource Information System (HRIS), aiding in both the on and off-boarding of employees and owning a variety of specific side projects. This position will also serve as the daily contact for HR related questions and concerns for KIPP DC's staff. The HR Associate will work closely with our school leaders and headquarters staff and will report to the Director of Human Resources.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Benefits:
o Support the administration of KIPP DC's benefit package (i.e., medical and dental insurance, vision insurance, life and long-term disability insurance, transportation benefits, flexible spending accounts, 403(b) retirement plan and the Employee Assistant program)
o Enter/review benefit enrollments and terminations
o Process benefit and employee information changes
o Reconcile benefit billing statements with information housed in KIPP DC's HRIS system
o Conduct internal audits of KIPP DC's benefits
o Support the Director of Human Resources during Open Enrollment
· Employee On-Boarding/Off-Boarding:
o Assist with the various processes of on and off-boarding staff. This includes but is not limited to, preparing new employee files, verifying Form I-9 documentations, reviewing new hire paperwork and updating KIPP DC's HRIS system, benefit vendors and the KIPP DC New Hire Website.
o Review and collect background checks and highly qualified information
o Attend and support the Director of Human Resources and the Human Capital Team during new hire webinars, orientations and various other on-boarding and open enrollment events
· HR Support:
o Assist with HR programs, research projects and other special events
o Assist with compliance and internal audits
o Perform customer service functions by answering employee and vendor requests and questions
o Ensure that all employee files are 100% accurate and up-to-date
o Aid in tasks supporting the KIPP DC internship and Saturday School program
o Perform clerical tasks, including but not limited to, filing paperwork, making photocopies, scanning sensitive HR information, faxing documents, maintaining employee medical and employment files and organizing HR documents for easy access for HR staff and employees.
o Perform other duties as assigned
Serve as a full-time and engaged member of KIPP DC's staff, including accompanying students on field lessons, assisting with student recruitment and enrichment activities, and working with other staff members to ensure fulfillment of KIPP DC's mission.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelor's Degree required
· Experience or a demonstrated interest in Human Resources required
· Experience with ADP a plus
· Outstanding organizational skills and an extraordinary attention to detail
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
· Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills
· Results-oriented team player who is dedicated to getting the job done
· Flexibility, with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate a high level of responsibility and multiple priorities
· Strong judgment and decision-making skills
· Articulate, professional demeanor with strong self-confidence, initiative, and leadership skills
· Experience in non-profit/education field a plus
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
· Unquestioned integrity and commitment to KIPP DC's mission
· A passion for education and a desire to help KIPP DC schools grow
· Flexibility, tenacity, high quality work, resourcefulness, teamwork, and a sense of humor
