[YEP-DC] Internship Posting: Summer Education Internship Opportunity

The See Forever Foundation is recruiting current college students (and recent graduates) to work with us this summer at our Freedom Schools program at the Maya Angelou Academy in Laurel, MD.  Students who are enrolled in education programs are especially encouraged to apply.

In partnership with the Children's Defense Fund (CDF), we will run the Freedom Schools program at our Maya Angelou Academy, which serves District of Columbia youth who are incarcerated at this secure juvenile facility. Servant Leader Interns will take on critical roles over the summer, serving as instructors and leaders in our summer school programming.

All interns must attend a week-long overnight training program sponsored by the Children's Defense Fund at the Haley Farm near Knoxville, Tennessee, from June 1-8, 2014.  Interns will return to Maya Angelou Academy on June 10 for observation on-site.  Interns will then assume their summer intern positions from June 16 through August 8.

Working as a Servant Leader Intern at Maya Angelou Academy represents a unique opportunity to learn what it is like to be a teacher and to work day-to-day with a progressive organization that is directly working to improve the education and juvenile justice system in Washington, DC. 

This is a paid internship, and please note that public transportation to the Academy is limited.  A daily commute via car will be necessary.
