[YEP-DC] For Graduating HS Seniors: Encourage them to apply for the National Youth Science Camp

The DC State Board of Education wants you to encourage graduating high school seniors to apply for the National Youth Science Camp.

This year, two District of Columbia graduating high school seniors have an opportunity to attend the prestigious National Youth Science Camp in West Virginia this summer as DC's state delegates. Applications are due March 1, 2014 and must be submitted online.

The National Youth Science Camp is a residential science education program for young scientists selected from each that takes place in the summer following their graduation from high school. The nearly month-long experience brings students together from around the country and world to enjoy outdoor

adventures, exciting lectures, hands-on projects, and lifelong friendships. All participants get to work alongside practicing scientists on research projects spanning various fields as well as to present their own seminars.

This year's camp runs from June 27, 2014 through July 20, 2014 and includes a visit to Washington, D.C. Visit http://www.nysc.org to learn more about the camp.

This life-changing experience is free for participants, including room and board as well as travel to and from West Virginia. Students must graduate from high school from July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014. Applications will be reviewed by a state selection committee formed by the DC State Board of Education, with two delegates and one alternate selected to attend the 2014 camp.

Submit applications to the National Youth Science Foundation website at http://apply.nysc.org Paper applications are no longer accepted.
