[YEP-DC] Job Opening: Senior Associate at Data Quality Campaign

We are looking for a top-notch project manager to manage the Data Quality Campaign's targeted effort to provide guidance, resources, and expertise to the education field about the safe and effective use of education data. The Data Quality Campaign (DQC) is a national, collaborative effort to encourage and support stakeholders—from parents to state policymakers—to improve the availability and use of high-quality education data to improve student achievement. 
 
Position Summary 

Reporting to the director, Communications and External Affairs, this senior position will manage the Data Quality Campaign’s targeted effort to provide guidance, resources, and expertise to the education field about the safe and effective use of education data. This work will build on DQC’s ongoing research, consultation, and communication activities and also will rely on collaboration with numerous partners and experts in the field. 
 
Supervisory Responsibilities 
While the senior associate will not have direct supervisory responsibilities, the senior associate will manage projects that involve staff across the organization. 
 
Essential Job Functions 
This position will collaborate with staff across the organization to ensure communications, state policy, and federal strategy work plans are developed, managed, and implemented so that states are positioned to ensure the safe and effective use of education data. Essential job functions: 
 
• manage a cross-functional team work plan and support and guide senior directors and 
colleagues in its implementation 
• oversee the production of issue papers written by content experts and contractors 
• engage education, law, and technology experts in developing recommendations for 
furthering the safe and effective use of education data 
• represent DQC in meetings and events in both formal and informal settings/presentations 
• lead grant reporting and management related to these activities 
• draft newsletter articles, speeches, press releases, opinion pieces, talking points, blog posts, infographics, and other website content 
• lead the execution of presentations, meetings, webinars, and other DQC events 
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 
Candidates for the position should have the following: 
 
• 3–5 years related experience, including project planning and management responsibilities 
• excellent oral and written communication skills  
• demonstrated experience in project management and work plan development involving multiple people and elements, based on identified outcomes and goals 
• strong interpersonal communication skills 
• demonstrated experience with grant reporting and management 
• demonstrated proficiency and knowledge of education policy and the landscape at the federal, state, and local levels preferred 
• ability to build and nurture partnerships with researchers, nonprofit organizations, and policymakers 
• ability to manage the work of junior staff and contractors as necessary 
• ability to work typical weekday hours at the Washington, DC, office near Metro Center 
• ability to travel as much as 1–3 times a month 
• proficiency in relevant computer software programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

perspectives 
• ability to inspire confidence, credibility, and passion both internally and externally 
• capacity to work well under pressure and in a rapidly changing environment 
• reputation for being entrepreneurial, partnership-oriented, energetic, positive, and focused 

Education 
 
• master’s degree or higher preferred, in public policy, education, communications, or related field 
• bachelor’s degree in public policy, education, communications or related field required 
• equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities have been acquired may be considered
