Songwriters and Bluegrassers:
We love songs looking toward the past, in memory, as reflected
in the phrases: "In Scenes of Childhood" or "Faded Memories".
So, in my life, I have visually "recorded" certain scenes and
associated feelings as a memory, which I can recall as years roll by.
I have come to learn that others practice this same technique, with
their own recorded memories, as we have so often heard in songs.
I wrote "Pictures in My Mind" in this perspective. In this song, the
"scene", "memory", or "picture" is actually a memorized movie
of my family, and expressed as a love song. In color!
The guitar is a Gibson L4 acoustic, similar to the totally acoustic
arch top played by Mother Maybelle or other acoustic archtops.

Pictures in my Mind G
Ed Schaeffer
Pictures in my mind, memories on file
Scenes in Technicolor rolling by the mile
Epic length features enjoyed by the hour
Of daydreams 'n hopes that turned out sweet or sour
All of the tenderness I could devour
Is why I love you!
Close ups of your smile curling toward your eyes
Twinkling there betrays joy in some surprise
Captured on film waiting only for re‑run
To see you repeat every scene is such great fun
Casting your shadow so tall in the bright sun
Is why I love you!
Bridge: I capture your form reflected in mirrors
My eyes keep on rolling the film of the years
I'll have these recordings as end of life nears
And I'll watch them all again....
Pictures in my mind, memories on file
Your name will be in lights, they'll imitate your style
But no other star in the world ere could be you
And there's only one fan alive who can see you
In pictures in my mind, memories on file
