COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING ASSOCIATE

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:

KIPP DC is a network of high-performing, college-preparatory charter schools in Washington D.C. which serve the city’s under-resourced communities.  At KIPP DC, there are no shortcuts. POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a highly-motivated, creative Communications and Marketing Associate to join the KIPP DC team. This person will support the creation of internal and external communications and marketing materials at KIPP DC.  The Communications and Marketing Associate will work closely with the Development Team, School Leaders, and the Recruiting Team.  This individual will report to the Director of Communications & Marketing.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop written materials to support marketing and communications efforts

·        Write and edit copy for KIPP DC collateral, including the KIPP DC newsletter, one pagers, flyers, advertisements, and presentations.

  • Support communications strategy and create messaging that drives fundraising, teacher recruitment, student recruitment, employee communications, and parent communications.


Design collateral and materials that honor the KIPP DC brand and graphic identity

  • Design visually appealing marketing and communications materials for print and digital platforms.
  • Manage design projects that utilize third-party graphic designers, photographers, and video producers, as time and budget allow.

 

Execute KIPP DC’s digital marketing strategy

·        Create engaging content for digital marketing platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) and measure its effectiveness.

·        Maintain the KIPP DC web site and track traffic and trends using Google Analytics.

·        Identify and capture stories, news, events, videos, and images that will elevate the KIPP DC brand on digital platforms.

 

Other responsibilities

·        Maintain and organize KIPP DC photo and video libraries, press clips, presentations, and marketing tools and templates.

  • Assist in the planning and execution of other team priorities, as requested.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or other related area (preferred)

·        Excellent writing, verbal communication and presentation skills with a keen ability to proofread and edit others’ work (required)

  • Minimum two years of communications and/or writing-intensive marketing experience with demonstrated success in creating persuasive communications materials (required)

·        Mastery of MS Office suite (required); proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite: PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign (preferred); experience maintaining a website (WordPress preferred)

·        Experience creating engaging social media posts and measuring their effectiveness (preferred)

·        Basic photography skills and video editing skills (preferred)

  • Passion for education reform and the belief that every child can succeed; experience in education or other non-profit field a plus

·        Detail- and results-oriented team player who is dedicated to getting the job done

  • Successful track record of collaboratively working with a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external. Strong leadership skills and an ability to take initiative, develop, and seek out creative ideas
  • Comfort with working in a fast-paced, non-profit environment along with an outstanding ability to multi-task, prioritize, manage and execute projects at a high level
  • Unquestioned integrity and commitment to KIPP DC’s mission
