[dcab-l] Looking for volunteer band for vets event in April

Hi Randy,

I'm a local picker and recently retired Army Vet.  I'm riding again this year in the Face of America Bike ride that benefits wounded vets.   It is a 110 mile ride from the Pentagon, through Arlington National Cemetery and on to Gettysburg PA.   Last year we had 500 riders, and 120 were wounded warriors.  It's a great event and last year I pulled my banjo in a buggy and entertained the riders at stops...at lease tried to!

The sponsor, World Team Sports.org, is looking for a bluegrass band that would donate 1 hr of playing time in Frederick MD where we stay over on the first night (Sat 26 Apr).  They may be able to cover some nominal travel expenses if that helps.  Would you know of a bluegrass bands that would be interested in donating an hour of playing time for a bunch of tired riders and wounded veterans?

Date is Saturday, 26 April in the late afternoon.  They would need a small PA and the organizers would provide the power and Beer! :-)

I've cced Bob Craig who recommended I contact you and Van Brinson the president of WTS.ORG, a nonprofit.

Appreciate any help you can give.

thanks, John Sims

Bob,

I'm in....will also pass to some other pickers.

Also, I'm riding again this year in the Face of America Bike ride that benefits wounded vets.  Last year of the 500 riders 120 were wounded warriors.  The sponsor, World Team Sports, is looking for a bluegrass band that would donate 1 hr of playing time in Frederick MD where we stay over on the first night.  They may be able to cover some nominal expenses if that helps.  Would your band be interested or do you know where I can find a local band.  Date is Saturday, 26 April in the late afternoon.  Beer will be served! :-)

Happy to discuss further.  Checkout my "banjo buggy" from last year!   http://worldteamsports.org/2014/honor/

thanks, John
