In education reform, is our sense of urgency beneficial? Or can it hurt our efforts? Recess blogger CJ Libassi argues the latter in his latest post. Urgency, he says, naturally forces us to address the most pressing issues -- usually superficially -- without looking deeper to answer the "Why?" "This bias away from root causes can, ironically, end up making progress take even longer," Libassi writes, "but the more harmful result is that it blinds us to the paradigm shifts in our understanding of education that could be most helpful in producing meaningful change."
