[YEP-DC] RE: CSA of the AFL-CIO-Employment Development Specialist

Job Announcement- Employment Development Specialist/Employer Liaison

 

The Community Services Agency of the Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO is seeking an Employment Development Specialist/Employer Liaison for work with low-income DC youth as part of DC's Out of School Youth Year-Round program.  Job duties include:

  • Assisting partner agency with recruitment of qualified youth
  • Coordinating youth mentoring programs
  • Developing work experience and placement opportunities for youth
  • Facilitating transition support into jobs
  • Scheduling industry speakers for career awareness
  • Assisting with job readiness activities so youth are work-ready
  • Conducting support activities to enhance job retention

 

Successful applicants will possess:

  • Demonstrated experience working with low-income youth 16-24
  • Demonstrated experience in a job development role including work directly with employers on job placement
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with a team to achieve program outcomes
  • Ability to work with young adults who face an array of social and educational challenges
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Computer skills including word processing, database management, electronic job search capabilities
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in related fields preferred
  • Experience with the labor movement a plus

 

We are seeking to fill this position as soon as possible.  Main work location is in SE DC; some travel within DC and the metro area required.
