WEB CONTENT MANAGER, READING IS FUNDAMENTAL
I. PURPOSE OF JOB
Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) is seeking a results-driven Web Content Manager to promote RIF's mission through the development and execution of web content that successfully engage target constituents.
II. SCOPE
The Web Content Manager, reporting to the Director of Integrated Marketing, will be responsible for developing, curating and maintaining content and will work with staff and partners to publish stories for the organization's websites, blog, social networks, and email and mobile subscribers. S/he will be a strong and prolific writer, with a passion for engaging audiences through powerful and timely content with compelling narrative and visuals. S/he will nurture and grow RIF's online audiences on all social and digital properties. A storyteller, s/he will also be responsible for ensuring content is increasing engagement through the use of Google Analytics and regular metrics reporting. S/he will help set strategy for all new online marketing campaigns and help maintain content calendars.
III. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create, develop and content for RIF's digital audiences, especially on social media and RIF.org. Requires working with content management software, social media platforms, and a basic understanding of HTML and Photoshop.
- Ensure timely and fresh content that engages multiple audiences. In addition to developing content in house, procure and curate content from partners – including publishers, programs and supporters – as well as relevant news from media.
- Coordinate and manage online marketing efforts across the organization based on campaign objectives, with a strong eye toward metrics-based reporting on all efforts. Requires ability to use Google Analytics and other metric tools, as well as run successful online sweepstakes and giveaways.
- Work with marketing colleagues and partners to prepare and publish images and video content that meets brand expectations.
- Work with supervisor and across departments to maintain and develop the master content calendar for all web properties.
- Curate, copyedit and proofread all web content and assist marketing colleagues with other writing assignments as needed.
- Be a strong team player, attending organizational events, partner conferences and program distributions not only for content gathering purposes but to support major RIF programs as needed.
- Understanding of Convio Luminate, Expression Engine, Wildfire App, HootSuite and/or MobileCause a plus.
IV. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations or a related field.
- 4-6 years progressive experience developing and managing online content that engages multiple audiences on the site and through social media, email marketing and other communication channels. Experience working in non-profit advocacy organizations in this capacity a plus.
- Strong reporting skills using online analytics software, such as Google Analytics and Convio Luminate, to ensure content is meeting audience needs and increasing engagement (i.e. donations, advocacy).
- Strong and prolific communication skills with a high-capacity to produce quality content on deadline. While this candidate will not be a designer, s/he should have a strong visual eye and be able to use house and stock photography to augment content.
- Experience developing and implementing social media marketing strategies, including blog promotion strategy and online community-building.
- Strong project management skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Experience and proven track record of working well with cross-functional teams and management a must.
