This is a follow-up to the previous notice regarding this Dec. 8th (3:00pm) event. We are pleased to announce that Michael Thomas (guitar and banjo), John Burton (mandolin and fiddle), Donna Gair (bass) and Danny Felton (banjo) will be at the workshop to assist participants to "get a handle" on bluegrass music.
This is a very basic workshop aimed at developing the participants' understanding of the music, its structure and its presentation. While individual instrument instruction will not be offered, the workshop staff will work with individuals regarding the role of their instrument and certain techniques in playing in a group setting. This is not a jam, but it will be "hands on".
NOVA Music is contributing the venue (8963 Center St., Manassas) and the staff are contributing their time and talent to this community service effort. Materials cost is $5 for kids and $10 for adults.
This is a great opportunity for kids and newbies to learn some basic tunes, play simple back-up, pick a tune they know and make some contacts for future pickin'.
Info? Bull Run Bluegrass Music Association, Bruce Gair, wbgair@gmail.com, (703) 407-2327. Please let NOVA know you are coming (703) 830-7141, but come anyway if you don't.
