[YEP-DC] Policy Analyst & Research Associate Positions, New America Foundation

Policy Analyst, Early Education Initiative

The New America Foundation's Early Education Initiative seeks a policy analyst to study and report on federal and state policies that affect early childhood programs, pre-K initiatives, kindergarten and the early elementary years. Innovative thinkers and strong writers welcome. You will be initiating and conducting original research on Head Start, federal and state pre-K initiatives, kindergarten and the early grades of elementary school. Expect to write regularly for the Early Ed Watch blog, contribute articles to outside publications, track and analyze new legislation and regulations, brainstorm new approaches to early childhood education and become part of a growing and vibrant team of national education policy writers.

Responsibilities


  • Research and report on a wide array of education policy issues.
  • Write and assist with blog posts on Education Policy's blogs.
  • Edit, proofread, and fact-check a variety of policy reports and papers.
  • Staff public events and write summaries of events at the New America Foundation.
  • Track traffic and help grow subscriber lists for Education Policy blogs and newsletters
  • Perform various administrative duties.

Qualifications


Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree.
  • Proven research and analytical skills.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with internet research tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work and manage time in order to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Knowledge of public policy and education issues preferable, but not mandatory.
  • Eagerness to learn about new fields of study.
  • Candidates should be flexible, self-motivated, and enthusiastic team players.

Research Associate, Education Policy Program

The New America Foundation's Education Policy Program is seeking an entry-level, full-time research associate who is interested in pursuing a career in public policy, journalism, or related areas.
