ePals is searching for an energized educator to infuse 21st century standards-based learning activities and content throughout the ePals global platform. This is an exciting opportunity to impact millions of students and teachers by creating and sourcing rigorous and engaging blended learning experiences and high-quality content. The Director of Learning Innovation will be passionate about college and career readiness and global learning.
Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight for building online communities that engage students and teachers with K-12 standards-based learning experiences, with a focus on In2Books, Common Core Implementation Center, Writing Center and ePals Book Club.
· Ensure consistency with the Common Core State Standards and international standards, with primary responsibility for the education content and community on ePals.
- Develop and oversee third party development of online blended learning curriculum materials such as projects, tutorials, strategies, contests, teacher guides, etc.
- Write and develop blended education content and experiences for educators, youth, and families.
- Ensure the quality, age-appropriateness, and effectiveness of resources and activities on the ePals platform to address the specific needs of students, teachers, literacy coaches, families, and mentors.
- Create integrated cross-curricular online learning experiences that encourage learning in and out of the classroom.
- Work with the ePals programming and publishing team to continually refresh the ePals resources with new content and topics from the ePals magazines, e.g. Cobblestone, Odyssey, Appleseeds, etc.
- Build and oversee a team of freelance educators who are developing new projects and curricula and are actively engaged in creating a user-owned community; foster a culture of innovation among the Education Team.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Ability to work as a team player in a high-energy, fast- paced entrepreneurial environment; thrives in an atmosphere of intense engagement.
- Deep pedagogical knowledge and commitment to intellectual rigor in work.
- Ability to independently produce creative and innovative ideas for transforming online learning.
- Hands on experience using social media tools for teaching and building learning communities.
- Experience in designing and developing standards-based literacy curriculum and materials. Familiarity with Common Core ELA State Standards.
- Master's Degree in Curriculum or Literacy (or related fields, e.g. Reading/English/Language Arts).
- Minimum of 3-5 years school/district-based teaching experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading online professional development.
- Ability to lead by example – be a manager and the leading contributor – including the ability to define, produce, and execute upon projects in an independent manner, possess a strong work ethic, history of self-initiated projects, and track record for success.
- Good technical understanding and can pick up new tools quickly. HTML and/or web design skills a plus.
- Deadline and detail oriented with ability to multi-task. Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Track record of achieving or exceeding expectations/assigned metrics.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications, presentation skills, and sense of humor.
