Job Description
Point-person for all of assessment and student-outcome learning evaluation at NYU in preparation for the Middle States Evaluations (full-term in 2013) and other evaluative measures deemed necessary by the Provost. Ensures sound research conceptualization, design, administration, and quantitative and qualitative analysis. Collaborate with University administrators and faculty on institutional and programmatic fact-finding, policy-development, and implementation with regard to assessment and student-outcome issues. Work closely with Assistant Provost for Academic Program Review on other issues relevant to the review of academic programs at NYU. Collaborate as needed with analytical planning staff at NYU and comparative institutions on data sharing, analysis, and research.
Desired Skills & Experience
Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (policy, economics, business, education, sociology, statistics, etc.)
Required Experience: 3-5 years' experience with quantitative research design and administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must include experience working with complex data sets and with project management, preferably in contexts of higher education.
Preferred Experience: Higher education planning/policy experience and/or experience in a complex organization with an understanding of the academic enterprise within a research university.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong quantitative and statistical modeling skills. Facility with statistical packages and proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, data-base, presentation and standard query tool software. Ability to understand long-term goals and broader planning frameworks and to frame results of research and analysis in a clear, cogent, concise, and compelling fashion. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Ability to work collaboratively with all constituencies in fast-paced analytical planning teams. Strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical and communication skills.
