Please read below from a Willie Poole email concerning
the passing of Walter Hensley, the great Baltimore area
banjo picker.
As Willie suggests, I did go onto youtube where I found
several examples of Hensley's work, while with his "Dukes
of Bluegrass" band. The following one is an interesting version
of East Virginia Blues:
As Willie mentions: "One by one, they are all leaving us".

I got word today that Waltr Hensley passed away on sunday from a bout with cancer...
I thought maybe some of you bluegrassers, most notably banjo pickers, might be interested in hearing about his passing...
Some of his u tubes are on a web site, just type in Walter Hensley and they will pop up, I hope anyway....He was called "The Banjo Baron of Balrimore"...I have picked some with him at festivals in this area, drank some Jim Beam with him also....
One by one they are all leaving us...
