Achieve, a national leader in education reform, is an independent bi-partisan, non-profit organization based in Washington, DC.
Achieve's Content, Research and Development unit is offering an internship to support the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and other critical work. The semester-long internship will begin in the fall 2012 and may be extended as needed. More information on the project can be found here.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Intern's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Next Generation Science Standards
• Provide planning and implementation support for online and in-person NGSS writing team meetings, including coordinating logistics and providing on-site support.
• Assist with data analysis of public feedback
• Monitor NGSS news clips, websites, and listservs and flag priority items for Achieve staff.
• Provide analyses of key developments and share regular updates with select Achieve staff regarding the NGSS.
• Assist with maintenance of internal databases
Other Responsibilities
• Attend report releases and other DC policy events.
• Summarize relevant policy reports and other publications.
• Provide general and administrative support as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate is has completed or is working toward completion of a graduate degree in policy or education; has research experience in the education policy arena; excellent research, writing, and communication skills; effective time management skills; an ability to handle multiple short-term projects in a fast-paced environment; and a team-oriented work style.
