Program Background
The Clark Teaching Fellows Program is a one to two year full-time teaching fellowship offered by the Septima Clark Public Charter School. Clark Fellows are given the opportunity to closely apprentice with an experienced teacher, completing a full practicum of hands-on classroom experience and engaging in the full spectrum of responsibilities taken on by teachers. Successful completion of the fellowship can lead to a full-time teaching position with Septima Clark. Clark Fellows are recent college graduates or seasoned professionals changing careers who are passionate about education.
Essential Responsibilities:
Hold and convey high expectations of excellence for each student.
Exhibit positive rapport and develop strong relationships with all students.
Work closely with an experienced teacher to develop and implement lesson plans incorporating best practices in boys' education.
Work with an experienced teacher to develop competencies in effective teaching and learning.
Work cooperatively with the experienced teacher in a professional team-based environment.
Assist with bus, lunch, and outdoor exercise duties.
Implement school-wide student management policies within classroom.
Develop proficiency in using assessment data to improve instruction and student skill mastery.
Work closely with experienced teacher to implement school's curriculum.
Create and foster a constructive learning environment by communicating and working in a positive, professional manner.
Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents and families.
Implement all policies, practices and procedures as required by the Principal and Academy Deans.
Consistently model school culture elements to ensure students are prepared for college.

Qualifications:
A belief in a highly structured, predictable, environment for children, in a no-excuses classroom. Exceptional academic record (3.0 GPA and higher and substantive extracurricular activities) and do-whatever-it-takes attitude. Bachelor degree required. Superb organizational, written and spoken communication, and collaborative skills required. Experience with children ages 3 to 10 years old mandatory. The Clark Teaching Fellowship is a full-time position with full benefits.
